Eco-Friendly fashion has made its way into the hands of our girls on "Sex & The City (SATC)." Technically, if you think about it, eco-friendly fashion is nothing new for SATC. Our lovely Carrie Bradshaw continuously did her share of recycling fashions throughout the series by shopping for vintage finds.

In the new film, the Queen of "Bling" Samantha Jones is spotted carrying an amazing silver Mega Ecoist Tote Bag which is created entirely from recycled candy wrappers, food packaging, and other forms of "trash." This tote is Fair Trade, retails for only $178, and a tree is planted for every bag sold! Can't get any better than that! :)

Did you know that some facial and body scrubs use teeny beads of polyethylene plastic to help clean out your pores? Apparently, the exfoliating ingredient in Olay's body wash, and in most similar big-brand products (such as Dove Gentle Exfoliating Foaming Facial Cleanser and Clean & Clear Daily Pore Cleanser), is actually made out of PLASTIC: tiny particles of polyethylene that scrub the dirt from your face and then wash straight down the drain and into watersheds and, eventually, oceans. Plastic does not biodegrade; therefore, the increasing amounts of plastic we consume are clogging the planet's seas, killing millions of sea creatures every year when they swallow it, choke on it, or get tangled in it and drown. Why not find a cleanser that uses natural stuff (such as sugar) to scrub the dirt off your face?

Here are some excellent alternatives:
  • Avalon Organics Exfoliating Enzyme Scrub (ground walnut & flax)
  • Burt's Bees line of scrubs (ground peach stones, almond, & oats)
  • Freeman Feeling Beautiful Salt Body Scrub (salt)
  • Freeman Feeling Beautiful Sugar Body Scrub (sugar)
  • Nature's Gate Revitalizing Facial Scrub (ground willow bark, walnut, & corn meal)
  • Queen Helene Natural Facial Scrub (ground walnut)
  • Skin Milk Facial Scrub, Exfoliate (oat flour & almond meal)
  • St. Ives Apricot Scrub (ground apricot kernels)
  • Lush Ocean Salt Cleanser (sea salt)
And the ones that contain plastic that you should avoid:
  • Aveeno Skin Brightening Daily Scrub
  • Clean & Clear's line of scrubs
  • Dove Gentle Exfoliating Foaming Facial Cleanser
  • Neutrogena's line of scrubs
  • Noxzema's line of scrubs
  • Olay's line of scrubs
  • Phisoderm Nurturing Facial Polish

If you want to go EXTRA ECO, you can always make your own fresh exfoliant at home. Here is a great site with a wonderful recipe you can use:

"Sex & The City"is one movie where everything is considered," says designer Lydia Marks, who decorated the sets for the first film as well as the sequel. As set decorator, Marks is responsible for every detail, from a magazine perched on a coffee table to what's inside an actress's purse when she opens it.

The film's production called for high-end sets, including a Morocco hotel, which was empty prior to shooting. Marks had to completely decorate the hotel, but it was Carrie and Big's Manhattan pad -- which featured custom-made carpets, gold-leaf lighting fixtures, antique furniture, and closet doors with obscenely expensive hardware -- that got the most fabulous décor.

Marks, who also designed sets for "The Devil Wears Prada," talked to StyleList about her favorite "SATC2" pieces. Die-hard fans -- with Big money -- can even buy some of Carrie's featured furnishings.

: Some pieces you rented for Big and Carrie's apartment are now for sale. Where can we see them?
LM: The two vintage armchairs in the living room are at Bergdorf Goodman in New York, the custom light fixture from the library is at Lindsey Adelman Studio, and the dining room table is at Alan Moss Studios in Manhattan.

SL:
How did you choose those three pieces?
LM: The armchairs: I was at Bergdorf's looking for a table runner for Charlotte's long, formal dining table. I turned and there were these two exquisite blue armchairs. They became the centerpiece of Big and Carrie's living room, and I ended up basing a lot of the other furniture on these chairs.

The chandelier: I needed a fabulous light fixture for the library. Lindsey Adelman custom-made the hanging fixture, with gorgeous handblown glass globes laced with 14-carat gold foil and gold murrine, all connected into a cluster with brushed brass stems. It's la luxe lamp; [Lindsey Adelman Studio] is like couture for lamps.

Prince William & Kate Middleton are reportedly rumored to be "engaged" soon (noooooooo), and these news serve as a muse to bridal designers across the globe.

Some of the world's famous gown designers have created stunning designs especially for the future Princess To-Be, and each gown was inspired by Kate's personal style.

Apparently, wedding souvenirs for the public have been in the works since 2006! British retailer 'Woolworths' said it will have 100,000 products ready to roll out within 48 hours of a wedding announcement! Geez!

Click on each photo and read what each gown designer had to say about their gorgeous creation. Which one do YOU think she should wear to wed the handsome Prince William (*sigh*)??

(BTW, their royal extravaganza is rumored to cost the British tax payer approximately $40m!!!)

German cookware company Fissler displayed its collection of cookware and flatware in Tokyo on high-fashion pieces designed by Chinami Kamishima.

A very fun, creative & unique way to market their products, if we may say so ourselves! We like! :)
