Donni Charm
Designer Alyssa Wasko and her mother have always loved working on various fashion projects together. Recently, they decided to try their hands at scarves, it never occurred to them that the scarves they had created would grow into so much more. The duo came up with the concept of attaching small good luck charms (hamsa/evil eye, silver wings, gold hearts, buddha) to soft jersey knit scarves. Their creations come bundled up in a cute tin which is excellent for gifting. Today, Donni Charm scarves are loved by celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Naomi Watts, Jessica Biel, Tia Carrere among many others!

Kapiti has launched a new ad campaign which features designer items dissolving into a pool of melted ice cream.
According to their marketing manager “The team at Kapiti have put the same care and passion into ice cream as a designer would in creating a new range. It’s about combining colour, texture and flavours in a way that excites, inspires and stimulates our senses. Great design is about respecting what has gone before and being willing to break with traditions” Hungry yet?

For those of you ladies who are Barbie lovers and traveling to New York this summer, this event is for you!

"For 30 years Barbie® has celebrated diversity around the globe with the Dolls of the World Collection, featuring dolls adorned in native costumes. This summer, the best of the collection comes together for the first time, representing more than 40 nations across all seven continents through a special exhibit on Ellis Island.

You can celebrate the 30th anniversary by visiting the exhibit at the Ellis Island Immigration Museum throughout the summer from June 16th - August 15th.

Later this summer, a special closing ceremony will take place on August 6th at the base of the Statue of Liberty. Ten diverse models wearing reproductions of some of the most celebrated costumes from the Dolls of the World Collection will "come to life" and showcase their traditional garb. While each model walks, the audience will learn cultural and fashion facts about each country. The show will be held at 10 am, 12pm, and 2pm ET on August 6th in Liberty Island."

Soles4Souls is a Nashville-based charity that collects shoes from the warehouses of footwear companies and the closets of people like you. The charity distributes these shoes free of charge to people in need, regardless of race, religion, class, or any other criteria. Since 2005, Soles4Souls has given away over 10 million pairs of new and gently worn shoes (currently donating one pair every 9 seconds.) The shoes have been distributed to people in over 125 countries, including Kenya, Thailand, Nepal and the United States. Soles4Souls has been featured in Runner's World, Ladies’ Home Journal, National Geographic’s Green Guide, and The New York Times. It has appeared on CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX, BBC, CNN and thousands of other news outlets. Anyone can join their cause, and they need your help.

Soles4Souls facilitates the donations of shoes, which are used to aid the hurting worldwide. Shoe companies, retailers, and individuals can donate footwear (both new and used).

The idea behind gifts of shoes is nothing new to the Soles4Souls team, as they coordinated relief efforts for the Asian Tsunami and Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, netting over 1 million pairs donated for these disasters. The team originally operated as www.katrinashoes.org with several churches partnering in the collection and distribution of footwear.

Soles4Souls Is Green!
How is Soles4Souls green? They offer a simple way to help reduce the strain on our environment: donate your "gently worn" footwear to people in need instead of throwing them away. Last year alone, Americans discarded more than 300 million pairs of shoes. When these shoes break down in our landfills, the toxic glue that holds the shoes together can leak into our water supply and atmosphere.

Soles4Souls can save your shoes from early death by cleaning them and shipping them to needy people around the world, who will treasure the gift for years to come. Since its inception following the Asian tsunami, Soles4Souls has distributed over 10 million pairs to people in 125 countries, and our efforts have been publicized in thousands of articles, including the Green Guide by National Geographic and Runner's World.

Most of our closets are filled with shoes we rarely wear. Instead of dropping the unwanted pairs in the trash, consider donating your unwanted pair to Soles4Souls. If you are a retailer or an individual outside the U.S. and you would like to donate, please read the attachment below, or visit their website:

Angelina Jolie is set to play Egyptian Queen Cleopatra on the silver screen. Though some people feel she was a great choice for the role, others are highly criticizing the decision as they feel it should have gone to an African actress-- or at least to someone with darker skin.

Do you agree? What are your thoughts?
